At the heart of every small business is a story worth telling, and Ink & Splash is no exception. Founded by a dynamic husband-and-wife duo with deep roots in therapy and creativity, this handcrafted greeting card business has quickly become known for its heartfelt mission and whimsical designs. Capturing their brand story was a creative collaboration with stunning results, and I’m excited to spotlight them in this month’s blog post.
Meet Ink & Splash: Spreading Joy One Product at a Time
Ink & Splash began with a single sticky note. As a young therapist, Ashley, the artist behind the brand, would leave illustrated notes on her office door to encourage and uplift clients. What started as small acts of kindness soon evolved into the “Wishing Wall” in the lobbies of their clinics, where over 500 hand-painted watercolor cards were made available to kids and families, each one meant to inspire hope and healing.
After years of dreaming about starting a creative business with her husband, a podcast episode pushed them into action. The takeaway? There's never a perfect time, so start now. That was the moment Ink & Splash was born.
“We offer one-of-a-kind, hand-drawn sentiments that aren’t your typical grocery store card,” Ashley shared. “They’re tiny pieces of art, created with heart, and meant to be kept long after they’re given.”
Today, their boutique offers not only beautifully crafted cards but also a deep sense of purpose: each product exists to give back and uplift others. Looking ahead, their goals include expanding their wholesale partnerships and exploring new product lines to spread joy even further.
The Power of Storytelling through Brand Photography
While Ink & Splash’s products spoke volumes, their website and visual storytelling didn’t quite capture the full picture until we worked together.
“Our original website was sweet, but something was missing,” Ashley said. “We loved the initial photos we had, but it didn’t feel like us. Julie brought that missing magic through photography. She told our story in a way that felt fun, emotional, and deeply aligned.”
Their new brand photos became the foundation for a complete website refresh. With storytelling at the center, Ink & Splash was finally able to visually express their heart and mission, helping them make a stronger, more memorable first impression.
